Color Challenged

CCREW817CLR

Sometimes, I have a really hard time choosing colors.  I tend to be very monochromatic.  However, when someone says, “here, use this color combo,” I feel more at ease with branching out and using something different.  Today’s post is about the Color Challenge we were given.  This color combo is WAY out of my comfort zone and I really didn’t think the pink in the card would work with my vision.  I wanted to make a masculine card.  Below, you will find a copy of the image they shared with us.  I interpreted the colors as Early Espresso, Crumb cake (because they are YUMMY together), Pool Party, and Lemon Lime Twist.  There’s another green in there… but I just couldn’t add that in… LOL35dd37dd3d6179bdeb8243bc0b82d5ba

So why motorcycles?  Well, they are a mode of transportation right? And you need a mode of transportation to travel…. no that’s not right.  For the 4th of July weekend, my family went camping and we brought our ATVs and motorcyles with us!  It was a blast!  We came away with only minor scrapes and bruises to boot.  LOL.  I threw in a picture below.  Where we stayed was sooooo green and so beautiful!  I can’t wait to go back!!  You can see the motorcycles on the trailer, the cabin we stayed in and oh yeah, that handsome man in the photo is my eldest son!

Embossing Paste Colorized

CCREW717CLRSo, yesterday, I blogged about using embossing paste and the lighting in the photo was a bit wonky.  You couldn’t really see the beautiful texture on the white on white background. WELL!  Here’s a card for you!  This card was for the Color Challenge for the Creative Crew on Splitcoaststampers.  As you can see below, the color challenge was Real Red, Island Indigo and Very Vanilla.  ccrewsketch-002I took literally 2 drops of real red ink and mixed with Stampin’ Up!’s Embossing Paste and smeared it all over the brick texture from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks.  I also did something that I have never done before.  I watercolored a doily! My upline has done it NUMEROUS times and I kept thinking… when will I ever use it?  UGH!  I love it!!  I used the You are So Sweet Clear-Mounted stamp set and the Mini Treat Bag Thinlit to cut out the sentiment.  I fussy-cut the border.  So what do I love about this card?  Well, besides everything?  It’s a mix of urban and elegant… It’s ele-ban-t (there you have it folks, I created a new word!)
