Color challenge

This month’s color challenge was to use strong summer colors.  But this picture was attached and inspired me to make a card.  Strong summer colors… to me, means oceans, sand and a cool drink.    Dapper Denim, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Sky blue… and Lemon Lime Twist for the drink.  I used the Seasonal Layers Framelits and the Colorful Seasons Photopolymer Stamp set for this card.  I also used Glitter Enamel Dots for accents on this card and again used a strand from the Burlap Ribbon.  Whisper White Thick, Dapper Denim and Whisper White card stock too.

Card Sketches

Card sketches are probably my favorite types of challenges. I like seeing someone’s sketch and making a card with it.  As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew what stamp set I would use immediately!  “Just add text” has a couple of different longer text blocks.  It was perfect for this card.  I used the Eastern Palace DSP, the Glittery Acrylic Shapes and 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon.  I pulled one of the fibers out of the ribbon, rolled it up and used a dimensional to keep it place.  I used the new Very Vanilla Thick card stock.

I would love to see a card YOU make with this sketch!  Like me on Facebook and post your card on my page!  https://www.facebook.com/swaltitude/

Stepped up already…

CCREW617SIPFor the month of June, the Creative Crew on splitcoaststampers.com asked us to only do 5 projects, instead of 6. I chose to make this challenge already stepped up and not do the simpler version of this card.

I also used this card as a color challenge that my upline put out.  The challenge was to make a card with all the In-Colors or to make 5 cards using only one In-Color.  So…. I used them all!

The stamp set used was Feathery Friends.  I used all of the In-Color markers for ink, I used all the In-Colors for paper too!  The flower centers have Clear Faceted Gems.  Cute huh?

Try this technique…

CCREW617TECSorry I am a little late with my posts about this month’s challenges. I had a LOT going on… High School Graduation for my oldest, a HUGE party and so much more!! BUT, I am here now, so let’s play with a new technique.  For the Creative Crew challenge in June, CCREW617TEC card called for us to try a new technique. This one is called, “Bordered Sentiment” – here’s the link: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/borderedsentiment/

I used the Feathery Friends Hostess set and Happy Celebrations stamp set for this card. I used some of the new In-Colors, Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, Powder Pink and Tranquil Tide.  Dapper Denim marker was used to make the line on either side of the mask.  The stamp outline is Stazon.  You will also notice the Powder Pink Bitty Bow just above the “T” in celebrate..  Yeah, I used it to cover and ink smudge! LOL  The card stock is Whisper White Thick and Whisper White. I would love to see what you create with this technique!  Have you liked my Facebook page yet?  https://www.facebook.com/swaltitude/

Love a Technique!

Here’s another challenge that I just LOVED!  In short, the challenge is to take a technique off of splitcoaststampers.com and make a card with it!  So, here’s my technique:  Cling Wrap Background

I DEFINITELY encourage you to try it.  It was easy and quick! The hardest part was waiting for it to dry!!  I took some Stampin’ Spots that I have been collecting with every Paper Pumpkin…. This color combo is Flirty Flamingo, Watermelon Wonder and Calypso Coral.  Believe it or not, I have some Basic Gray in there but it didn’t really show up where I thought it would… LOL. I crumpled the cling wrap just a little bit, stamped the color on the cling wrap and spritzed it with water.  Easy!  Be sure to read the directions though! The rest of the card has the Tasty Treats Washi Tape, a butterfly punch, a mini paper clip and the Sprinkles Embellishments!

I am definitely going to do this technique again soon!  But as a real background.  I am waiting to get my hands on some of the new In-Colors… OMGosh… They are GORGEOUS!!

The Box-Lady Come-ith!

I’ve been fighting it… and now, there’s no stopping it!  I have to get ready for Christmas…. ALREADY!  Somewhere along the way, I picked up the nickname, the Box Lady!  At every craft fair, I hear it at least twice.  “Oh!  You’re the box lady!”  Anyway, this week, I am starting to gear up for “craft fair season”  (did you hear the deep echo-y voice that said that??  I know I heard it… I think I heard a crash of thunder too!).  Craft fair season is my busiest time of year.  The projects are made by the bushels and it takes a LOT of time and prep to get ready for these.  This year, instead of waiting until October, I am starting early!  I was inspired with this little beauty by a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers.com.  It was a lotion and nail file box.  Well, I altered it… completely! I didn’t have lotion and nail files… but I did have hand sanitizers.  Brilliant! *giggles*

handsanitizer

Now, this isn’t the finished product.  I will probably roll a wheel over the box… It’s the prototype!  Typically, I use a lot of retired product for craft fairs… This item is no exception.  I used Lucky Limeade card stock, Lucky Limeade ink and Be of Good Cheer DSP… the ribbon is Cherry Cobbler 1/2″ Scallop Dots.  Now, everything else is current.  Here’s what I used:

So, what inspires you?  What is it that makes you get out of your chair and stamp?  Please post into the comments!  I would love to hear what you have to say!
