#TBT – Peppermint Patties

lovebox-filledWith Valentine’s Day, right around the corner… Well, I thought I would bring back a great project!  It’s not my original design so I don’t feel comfortable sharing the dimensions… however, I tried to find this box again and can’t find it anywhere.  Just know, it’s not mine.  Another demonstrator thought this baby up.

Here’s what you will need:

1 – 5″ x 5″ cardstock (Sweet Sugarplum used here)
1 – 3/4″ x 8 1/2″ Strip (if you do the hearts, I cut mine 1 x 8 1/2 – Sweet Sugarplum used here)
10 – Scallop Circle punches (Rich Razzleberry used here)
6 – 1 3/8″ Circle Punches (Sweet Sugarplum used here)
6 – 1 1/4″ Circle Punches (Whisper White used here)

loveboxI did something completely different with this box.  I used the Window Box Thinlets to cut-out the shapes in each of the side panels and the Love Notes Thinlets to cut hearts out for the handle!  Super cute!!

So, now what?  Well, let’s make a box.  Take your 5 x 5 card stock and score on all 4 sides at 1 1/2″.  (see the example below – dotted lines are score lines, solid lines are cut lines.) So, put one of the 5 x 5 sides along the top, score at 1 1/2″, turn 90 degrees, score at 1 1/2″, turn 90 degrees, score at 1 1/2″, turn 90 degrees and score at 1 1/2″

Cut on the 4 score lines as shown.  The run from the edge of the paper to the 1 1/2″ score line.  You will notice that there are two cuts at the top of the paper and two cuts at the bottom of the paper.  The other 4 score lines are not cut.  They are only scored.

Now, fold up the sides.  The flaps should both fold into either side of the box. (where the cut lines are) I stapled the sides and the handle on at the same time.  Using only 1 staple right in the middle to secure the box together. You will cover the staple with a scallop set (mine is the Kiss and the lips).

What do you think?  Pretty simple, right.  Quick and easy! Makes a great gift for a co-worker, employee or anyone, really!  If you have any questions, feel free to post them in the comment section!

Challenge #10!

thinkingofyouPhew! I made it through! This challenge was to make 3 cards and SEND them out! LOL!!! At first, it was for birthday cards. I am so bad at my correspondence that I asked if it could be any card (since February is a little light in the birthday department). YES! I am so excited. So, since I knew I would be mailing these cards, I decided to make 4 no-layer cards. Sooooo this card was supposed to be a double. But! I mis-inked it. Now, as you may know, there are no mistakes ONLY embellishment opportunities. Well, in a later card, I did take advantage of that. But not this one. There was no way to save it.

Thick Whisper White card stock, Stazon ink, and colored with markers.  That’s it!  Simple.  But, elegant.  I will post the other two cards soon.  I REALLY liked the way they turned out too.

This card went to my sister-in-law.  Just because….

Another great combo

Here’s another fantastic color combination.  We didn’t have exactly the right colors for this one but this combination, though not quite exact, does work well here!  Tip Top Taupe, Sweet Sugarplum, and Pink Pirouette.  It is actually quite spectacular.  Now, this was a sample made by my partner in crime, Rebecca, she was the mastermind that thought to alternate the butterflies in the dress and on the box.  Tell me that butterfly on top of the box is not stunning!  Oh yeah it is!

Oh the Colors!

There are some beautiful color combinations out there for weddings.  This one is spectacular. Cherry Cobbler, Real Red and Basic Grey.  What I love about this box is the versatility of just what you can do with it.  Yesterday, we cut slats in the lid of the box with one of the colors peeking through.  Today, we cut out a hexagon with a beautiful floral pattern cut out.  Wait until you see tomorrow’s set.  WOW!

I embossed the floral stamp with clear embossing powder and I used the hearts from first box to accent the banner on the second.  Cool, huh?

Bridesmaid Gifts

aday2celebrateInspiration comes from EVERYWHERE! Lately, it’s been coming from my niece. LOL. She has a growing business called The Pretty Pout. She sells lip balms, lip glosses, lip scrubs and more. You should check it out! Anyway, we have learned that the lip scrubs will fit in the hexagon box! YAY!!  I have made a few samples of this box for her to show her what we can do. Over the next several days, I will be posting one of the combinations. I looked up “Trendy Colors for Weddings 2017” and found several really cool ones. I have chosen a few and translated them into Stampin’ Up! colors. Here’s the first. Cherry Cobbler, Tangerine Tango and Very Vanilla.

The only box I can really talk about is the Hexagon box. We used to have the Framelits that made the dresses (It was called Dress Up Framelits – Here’s an example of what I have done with it on this blog). While I have horded mine, keeping it for just such an occasion… You may not have them. For that I am sorry 🙂

Birthday Box

birthdayboxCan I just say that I love this… no no… I LOVE this box!  I totally LOVE it.  Just so you know, January is birthday month!  Why?  Birthdays fall in every month? Well, my birthday month is JANUARY!  hehe. So, I kind of made this for myself.  I did change the color combination as promised BUT I reserve the right to run right back to my new favorite one!  I used Perfect Plum, Dapper Denim, Whisper White and Smoky Slate.  This also uses the Window Shopping Bundle and the SAB ribbon!  WOW’sers.  Notice the candle cut-outs on the box.  They are in every other panel of the box backed with smoky slate cardstock to make it pop!

birthdaybox1Now, there is another reason why January is birthday month…. My youngest son was born in January too!  We are separated by 3 weeks, exactly!  To the right, you will see a thumbnail of the box showing it from the top.  Click on it, it will make the picture larger so you can see some of the details (like the teeny tiny pearls – I am still trying to finish the package… LOL)

Challenge accepted

makeawishThis morning, my amazing upline posted a challenge to our group page on Facebook.  The challenge was… Stamp!  LOL.  There’s 9 more challenges, I hope I can keep up as I am sure they will get harder and harder as time goes on…

Anyway, I ran downstairs to my craft room and stamped this little beauty.  NOW that the Occasion’s Catalog is out, I can post links again for you for the supplies.

This card uses the Window Shopping Bundle and some of the Falling in Love Suite.  Now the Window Shopping Bundle is meant for a box. I was trying to think OUTSIDE the box…. LOL. Maybe in the next day or two, I will actually use the box for the box! Wait. huh? That didn’t make sense, did it? Anyway…. I have to try and pull myself away from this color scheme!  I just can’t! But I promise to try in my next post!! hehehehe
